Add them up! There are four to five (depending on who you ask) political parties in Canada. By far, the party that is the most conservative ideologically is the Conservative party of Canada. This party was formed in 2003 when the Canadian Alliance and the Progressive Conservative parties merged. The “super party” went on to defeat the Liberal party after their rather long reign a few years later. The Conservatives have been governing as a minority government since 2006 and they survived a vote and increased their seat count in  2008, almost to the point of attaining a majority. That was an exciting night in canadian politics for sure.
