Excellent customer service skills are necessary in being a pharmacy tech

As a pharmacy tech, it is necessary to have excellent customer service skills. Patients are dependent upon their medications; some people have life-threatening illnesses. Having a pharmacy technician handle their transaction with proper “counter side” manner can make all the difference. Maintain a positive attitude with each customer. Consider the mother who is worried because her child has a fever and rash. Be sensitive to her needs and seemingly redundant questions. Remember, you may have already heard the question 200 times that day, but it is the first time that she has asked. Listen effectively to each person’s questions or concerns. Always put the customer first, focusing on the present task, not on the hundreds of other prescriptions yet to be filled.
