Social networks evolution

October 24th, 2009 by admin

What makes a social network like facebook or myspace so big?  With all the social networks out there, why do some make it big while others make sites and they die?  Look at facebook, for example, a very young man with no real business experience created one of the greatest phenomena and avenue in which society and culture can be changed and which has grown to millions in number.  Was he a genius? Was it luck? I think that social media must reflect real society.  Facebook, for example, began as an online community for university students.  Facebook took already established networks in real life (colleges) and brought them to the virtual, online world.  Since the networks already existed in real life the viral affect of facebook was almost inevitable.
