My suggestion to everyone would be don’t travel without insurance. Although I don’t know how this story ended, there was a man on the same European group tour as me last year, and in one heritage listed pub we visited he hung his coat on the fire sprinkler system. Well, it set the sprinklers off and caused a lot of water damage. He did have travel insurance so hopefully (for his sake) this will cover the damage, which last I heard was in excess of $100,000. Admittedly it was a stupid thing to do but I guess he just did it without thinking, and he wasn’t even drinking.
